Things To Consider When Choosing A Scrum Trainer

By Peter Robinson

If you want to start a project, there are so many professionals that you need to work with. These will include accountants, project manager, and the CSM among many other parties of the team. Even though the project manager oversees the project, he/she may not be able to control the team that is working on the project effectively. This is where a CSM comes in. This professional is essential in motivating the team to deliver the desired results within the expected time-line. It is the work of the Scrum Trainer to ensure that the team is equipped with the right knowledge. Use the tips below to find the best CSM.

CSM should be a person that people like easily. Thus, he/she should be likable by many people. He should have good communication and leadership skills that will help him form new relationships easily. More so, the professional should be a person you can trust because you will entrust your team with him/her.

The second thing that you should look for when searching for a CSM is that he/she should be professional software professional. This is especially if you are part of a software organization. The CSM should thus be able to pair with programmers and other experts and blend in well. Also, you need to be sure that the professional will understand everything that entails software programming to guide the team well.

The CSM should also be a product expert. This means that he/she should have experience in the product you are dealing with so that he can get the right requirements. If the CSM does not have knowledge of the product, he/she may not know the requirements that are needed to complete the job. Therefore, he may misguide the team, and the results will be devastating.

Additionally, the CSM should be aware that managing organizations is critical. This is because a lot of things have changed and the outline of the organizations is no longer the same. Thus, the sooner the CSM understands that organizations have many complications, the better he will be able to understand them. This will enable the CSM also to understand your organization and see to it that the team is well trained for the job at hand.

Moreover, the professional should know that things are changing. He should thus be ready to learn at all times. Also, he/she will need this information to train the team. If he wants to create an impact on the team, he should work with them and be an inspiration to the members of the team.

It may be hard to find the ideal CSM as no one will have all the knowledge that you want. However, when you find a CSM that can be a good facilitator, you are good to go. The CSM will make sure that the team works in harmony and mobilize it effectively.

The professional should also be a good listener and observer. He should be keen to know how the team works daily and find out where things are not done to perfection. Also, he should be ready to listen to the concerns of the team.
